Men’s basketball honored with NABC Team Academic Excellence Award
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced its Team Academic Excellence Awards and 2019-20 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men’s collegiate basketball teams and student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. The Milligan University men’s basketball team earned the team honor, and seniors Desean Green, Nathan Hastings, Teve Mushayamunda, Tyler Nichols and Bo Pless earned the individual honor.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (July 16, 2020) -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced its Team Academic Excellence Awards and 2019-20 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men's collegiate basketball teams and student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. The Milligan University men's basketball team earned the team honor, and seniors Desean Green, Nathan Hastings, Teve Mushayamunda, Tyler Nichols and Bo Pless earned the individual honor.
This marked the third time Nichols won a spot on the Honors Court while Green, Hastings and Pless were recognized with the individual honor for the second time in their career.
"We are extremely excited to have five seniors honored as academic scholars by the NABC," Head Coach Bill Robinson said. "I'm also very proud to have our team honored as a team of academic distinctions. This past year was a very special team, and I am proud of what the team accomplished both on and off the court."
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 season. Individuals on the list must be varsity players who have achieved junior or higher academic standing, maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year, and matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
