Milligan falls to Bluefield on the road
Four members of the Milligan College men’s basketball team reached double digit scoring but it was not enough as the Buffs fell to the Bluefield Rams 83-73 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday night in Bluefield.
BLUEFIELD, Va. (Feb. 5, 2020) – Four members of the Milligan College men's basketball team reached double digit scoring but it was not enough as the Buffs fell to the Bluefield Rams 83-73 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday night in Bluefield.
On the court
Milligan and Bluefield kept it close for majority of the first half with nine lead changes. Milligan's biggest lead of the night came from a Bo Pless 3-pointer to put the Buffs up by four, but Bluefield would come back and lead by nine entering the half.
As the second half began the Rams were able to extend their lead to 13. Milligan would attempt to make a late half push with a 15-6 run with five and a half minutes left of play, but Bluefield would quickly work their way back to a 13-point lead by going on a 19-4 run in the last five minutes of play.
By the numbers
During Milligan's late game run Nathan Hastings scored nine points going 3-for-3 from the perimeter. Hastings finished with 17 points. Jacob Cawood would also score 17 points adding on nine rebounds. Pless and Tyler Nichols would round out the double digit scoring with 12 a piece. Mike Featherston finished the night with eight rebounds and six assists.
Bluefield had three players in double digit scoring with Niquan Cousins having a double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds.
