Jastrab wins junior world championship
Milligan College freshman Megan Jastrab won the junior women’s road race at the Yorkshire 2019 UCI World Championships Friday in Harrogate, UK.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2019) – Milligan College freshman Megan Jastrab won the junior women's road race at the Yorkshire 2019 UCI World Championships Friday in Harrogate, UK.
Jastrab, who won two individual USA Cycling Collegiate Track national titles earlier this month, pulled away from the field with Russian junior women's time trial champion Aigul Gareeva with two kilometers to go. In the final stretch, Jastrab outsprinted Gareeva to claim the victory.
In only one month as a student-athlete at Milligan, Jastrab has already claimed two individual national titles. Jastrab was a part of the women's team pursuit which won the national championship at the USA Cycling College Track national event before claiming the individual women's pursuit title the next day.
Milligan's cyling team continues the season with a mountain bike event this weekend at Lindsey Wilson College before heading to the mountain bike national championships Oct. 9-13. After that, the Buffs will compete in cyclocross and road season throughout the winter and spring.
