KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2020) – After Brock Browning held one of the top teams in the country to four hits and one run over the first seven innings, Richard Polinsky gave the Milligan College baseball team their third walk-off win in the last four games. With a one-out single to right-center field, Polinsky drove in Tyler Hisey, and the Buffs defeated No. 9 Indiana Tech Saturday night at Dobyns-Bennett High School.
Milligan won for the sixth straight time and improved to 6-2. Indiana Tech was fresh off an 8-2 win over preseason No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan, the reigning national champion, earlier today.
Browning received no decision but posted a stout line of seven innings, four hits, one (earned) run, one walk and seven strikeouts. His only blemish happened on a solo home run to center field to lead off the seventh. Caleb Wilson pitched the final two innings, striking out three while allowing only one hit to pick up the win.
Brandon Marello took Browning off the hook for the home run which led off the top of the seventh by hitting a solo home run of his own to lead off the bottom of the seventh. It was his first of the season and rounded out the scoring both teams would do over the first eight and a half innings.
Hisey got things going in the exciting finish, leading off the bottom of the ninth on a single to center field. After a failed attempt to bunt him to second, Marello moved him into scoring position with a single to right. An error and an intentional pass of Blake Dutton later, Polinsky singled to score Hisey from third.
Up next, Milligan turns around quickly to play No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be played at Dobyns-Bennett High School.
