MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Dec. 12, 2019) – Milligan College ranks No. 18 in the most recent NAIA Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings. This is the second of three sets of fall standings, with the final poll to be published Dec. 24.
Bolstered by a pair of top 15 finishes from both the women's (eighth) and men's (14th) cross country teams, Milligan earned 157 voting points and remained the top Appalachian Athletic Conference school by a wide margin. The Buffs are 54 points out of the top 10.
Also picking up points for Milligan this fall season was the women's volleyball team, which qualified for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round and hosted its first match.
Milligan topped the next closest AAC school by 72 points, as SCAD Atlanta came in next at No. 48 overall. Only one other AAC school made the list: Tennessee Wesleyan in 53rd with 75 points.
The NAIA Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Similar to the AAC's Duard Walker All Sports Trophy, the Learfield Cup awards points based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports in the NAIA-- six women's and six men's.
